Test And Celebration

It's that time of the year again for Rockhoppers - test, test, and more test!! Beside regular tests for math, science, social studies, and language arts, students are also getting ready for the state/district writing test. If you are lucky enough to be a fifth grader this year, yeah, two math placement tests are waiting for you at the end of March. It's really not the worst. If you had grown up in an Asian country like I had, you would have ten times more tests at schools than what you have now. How about the k/1 students? Ah, that's a totally different story here. We have been busy too in February! Yes, starting with Groundhog Day, then the 100th Day of School, Chinese New Year, writing Valentine's cards for homework, and ending with projects to create presidents Washington and Lincoln. Whew! Lots of work here, for both the students and the teacher. What do you like about February? It's the shortest month of the year, always stands out from the other months. What do you hate about February? The weather is unpredictable as usual, and the pollen in the air is causing many allergies including myself. February.......................
